One-Way Flights to Houston

Houston has two airports and picking the right one matters. George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is United's second-largest hub with tons of routes and connections. William P. Hobby (HOU) is closer to downtown and home to Southwest, JetBlue, and budget carriers. Always compare both — the same route can be $30+ cheaper at one vs the other. United dominates IAH, and they price competitively on routes where Spirit and Frontier also fly. Spirit runs cheap one-way fares into IAH from cities across the East Coast, Midwest, and Florida. Frontier competes on many of the same routes. Southwest operates exclusively out of Hobby with free checked bags and no change fees — solid value if you're hauling gear. JetBlue also flies into Hobby from the Northeast. Houston is a gateway to the Gulf Coast and Latin America, so if you're connecting onward to Mexico or Central America, IAH has way more international options. For a domestic one-way though, Hobby is usually the better bet for budget fares. Cheapest months: September, October, January, and February. Summer is expensive — Houston's brutal heat doesn't stop prices from rising because of vacation travel. Avoid Thanksgiving and Christmas. Midweek flights save $20-35 vs weekends. Book 3-5 weeks ahead for the best one-way prices.
