American runs tons of routes through MIA, and they'll match budget carrier prices on competitive corridors. If you're connecting to Latin America or the Caribbean, MIA has far more international options than FLL. JetBlue flies into both MIA and FLL with strong fares from the Northeast — especially New York, Boston, and Hartford. Their Mint business class on the JFK-MIA route occasionally goes on sale for one-way fares that are surprisingly reasonable. Miami pricing is seasonal in a way that works for budget travelers.
